Banned Golf DriversWhat exactly are banned golf drivers?

There are standard specifications for each golf club in the golf club sets. This is true for the golf club drivers as well. These specifications are set by the Unites States Golf Association in USA and other organizations at the respective countries. Those golf drivers that are manufactured according to the set measurement are the standard golf drivers and golfers are allowed to use them at the tournaments. Those golf drivers that do not comply with the measurement set by the USGA are the banned golf drivers and the golfers are not permitted to use them at the tournaments.

The guideline for making the golf driver was set by USGA to prohibit the use of the drivers that give unusual spring like boost to the ball when they are hit with the drivers. According to the measurement of the USGA that was set in the year 2004, a golf driver must have a golf club head and that can not be larger than 450 cc. The standard club head of the golf drivers that are mostly available are of 150 cc and the large golf drivers can have a head as large as the 450 cc. Apart from the volume of the head the face of the club head as per the specification should be of 4 ½ inches wide and 2 ¼ inches high. The golf club drivers that are fitted with a club head that surpass these standards are banned golf drivers and not permitted to use at the tournaments. These measurements can also vary from one country to the other and from one tournament to the other as well. So before you go for a tournament, it is wise to check the specification for that particular country and tournament. You must also take a note of the fact that the specification of the Golf Club Equipment changes from time to time and you need to keep yourself updated with the latest specification if you play at the tournaments on a regular basis.

These rules only apply to the tournaments and the professional players who participate at these tournaments. If you are an amateur player and play golf for pleasure, you must not bother about the details of the golf club measurement and the banned golf drivers. Remember there is no banned golf driver when you are playing at the Golf Course with your friends just for fun. That is the reason that banned golf drivers are sold at most of the golf stores around the world and they are immensely popular among the golfers as they can hit the ball for far distances quite easily. For example the ERC II made of Callaway is an extremely popular banned golf driver. So, if you want to surprise your golf buddies with a real long shot when you tee off you can always pick up one of those banned golf drivers.
