A perfect golf driving grip is essentially an unavoidable aspect of golf. Incorrect gripping of drivers and irons always result in unexpected and wrong golf shots. Though there is no exact rule for the correct golf driving grip, there are certain basic but important grips that most of the golfers apply.   • Overlapping Golf Grip:

It is the grip majority of golfers use. Most of the male golfers with powerful wrists and strong forearms use this golf grip. In this grip the little finger of right hand overlaps the index finger of another hand.

Most of the beginners, younger golfers, senior golfers, females, and other golfers with relatively weaker wrists and forearms use baseball grip. In baseball golf driving grip the little finger of the right hand meets (don’t interlock or overlap) the index finger of the left hand.

  • Interlocking Golf Grip:

Golfers who have shorter hands and fingers use interlock grip. Those with thick palms also use this grip. Golfers who find difficult to use overlapping grip use this grip as well. In interlocking grip, golfers overlap index finger of the left hand with the little finger of the right hand and interlock them.

  • The Vardon Golf Grip:

Nowadays the Vardon grip is very popular golf driving grip methods. Harry Vardon first used this grip in early 1900’s. In this grip, golfers overlap the little finger of their bottom hand between the index and middle fingers of the left hand. The thumb of left hand should be inside the grip of right hand.

  • Another golf driving grip is gripping the club with the left hand. In this, golf club will be in the palm at the root of your fingers. Usually the club lies near the base of the index finger while the thumb is positioned straight on the top of the shaft. The thumb and golf club will be in the parallel position.

When it comes to golf grip, size matters very much. If the grip size is too small, it may cause the golf club to twist in your hands. It happens due to pressing the club at the bottom of the swing. On the other hand if the grip is too large, the club may loose at impact. No matter which golf grip you prefer to use, to start with you should hold the golf club in front of you while your right hand should point away at a 45 degree angle. This is the basic rule to learn gripping golf club.
