Golf Irons For Women

While choosing golf club equipment, the comfort level of the golfer with that club should be the primary concern. This is simply because the performance of the player is largely dependent on how he or she handles the club. If the player is not comfortable with the club that he is using it is quite likely that there will be more miss hits and slice shots. Therefore, while choosing the golf clubs for the golf club sets one should always select clubs according to the height, handicap, style of playing and ability to swing the golf. This is true for all types of golf clubs including irons and hence a different category of golf irons for women. These clubs are specifically designed keeping in mind the physical attributes of women players. There are a few factors that are implemented while designing and manufacturing the golf irons for women.

Length of golf iron is the first thing that you should consider while choosing golf irons for women. Generally the women’s golf irons are shorter for one or half inch than the standard golf iron size. This is because women are generally shorter in height than the men and women golfers find it difficult to use golf irons that are longer in length. Now while choosing the iron one should always select the iron that is appropriate to the height of the golfer. Ideally the driving iron or the 1-Iron for women should be 38” in height and as the number of the iron increases the length of the iron gets reduced.

The design of the golf irons heads are the next point of concern for the women golfers. Ideally they should use the cavity back irons as they are lighter in weight and have thin top line that makes it a better iron for playing precision shots. But then these irons demand great swing speed and better control of the shot to ensure a better carry and right direction of the shot. If the player has low handicap and is comparatively new to the game of golf, it would be better to opt for the muscle back design. Though the muscle back irons are heavier than the cavity back irons, they are suitable for the newbie. These irons have larger sweet spot so there is less chance of an off centre hit. As the centre of gravity in these golf irons is located low and deep within the head the ball can be easily launched higher.

The next thing that should be taken into account while choosing golf irons for women is the flex of the golf iron shaft. There are two different types of shafts available in the market – steel shaft that are made with forged stainless steel and the graphite that are made with carbon fibers. Graphite shafts are best suited for the golf irons for women as they are lighter in weight than the stainless steel shafts. Moreover, you will get more flex with the graphite shafts and hence you can get a better impact to the ball even with the low swing speed.
