Golf Pitching TipsPitching is one of the integral parts of golf. Although it is often forgotten by the amateur golfers. Pitching holds a lot of importance especially when you have to hit above trees, bunkers and water hazards. Here are a few Golf pitching tips, which can be used by the golfers to improve their pitching.

  1. Never look at your shot after you have made it. The over excitement to look at the shot can turn it into a disaster. This is a key tip for good pitching.
  2. Try to focus on delivering a mild downward wallop to your golf ball.
  3. Which club is to be used for pitching? - Use lofted clubs for pitching. A sand wedge or pitching wedge would be a good choice.
  4. Where to position the ball? - Try and position the ball right at the center of the stance.
  5. How to distribute the weight? - There should be a perfect weight distribution i.e. placing 75% of your weight on the front foot. This can be critical sometimes.
  6. How to position the body while pitching? - The Golfer is suggested to turn his legs and body to turn slightly towards the shot.
  7. How to increase the speed? - To increase the speed or velocity of pitching you should apply direct force on the back of the ball. You should hit the ball with your pitching elbow down.
  8. To improve your pitching, practice hitting balls from up slope with your sand wedge. It is better to try less than full swing.
  9. Try working on rotators cuff durability and your strength. This would not only increase the speed of pitching but also make you a good pitcher in all.
  10. Practice and discipline is the key to master pitching only substantial practice can get a precision in your pitching.

Chipping and Pitching are a part of ‘short game,’ but it should be remembered that pitching is different from chipping. A pitch shot is taken when the golfer has to either cross a bunker or the grass is too deep to chip out. It is with substantial practice that one will be able to easily separate a pitching shot from a chip shot.

When crossing the obstacles is the challenge it is necessary that you concentrate on the target for example - a bunker, the better you concentrate on the bunker the probabilities are that you’ll end up there. One should avoid taking a long back swing instead the shots should be taken. One should take a shorter back swing and then increase the speed of the trailing hand while simultaneously with a movement of the back knee into the shot. This will impart more spin to the ball. From these golf pitching tips one can easily improve the game and with hard work and practice excel it.
