Golf Slice TypesGolf can be funny game sometimes especially when some one ends up its tee shot into slice shot. Generally a slice shot is the curving of the ball towards the right hand side of the target as the shot lacks in both direction and distance. This shot is quite difficult to control and most novice golfers are facing this problem. Some of them are struggling to come out of this and take years to cure this shot to form the swing. The main reason for this is because these players are not able to make out what there problem areas are? May be they tried but they won’t be able to find out the correct cause of it.

Frankly speaking, very few novice golfers know about the fact that golf slice types are generally of three kinds. These are as follows:

  • Golf Slice – This is the most general type of golf slice shot. Here in this the ball first goes straight and there after due to over spin on the ball it starts to curve right side of the target.
  • Golf Push Slice – The golf push slice shot starts curving to the right side from its tee position and then further curves right side.
  • Golf Pull Slice – The golf pull slice shot first goes left side and then it curves back to the right side direction.

The root cause of the golf slice is the open club face at the impact. Let’s understand how this open club-face leads to different golf slice types. If your swing path is straight and you swing with an open club-face then most probably your shot will be golf slice type. If you cut across (outside to inside) the ball and you have square club-face to your swing path then you will get a golf pull slice. So, you need to be very careful that your club head travel straight down the target line with a square club face.

It can be very frustrating when you try to get the proper swing and the ball ends up being sliced more. If you are having these problems then you need to take the following tips very carefully:

  1. The first thing you need to make sure that your wrists are not turning over too soon. Moreover your hands and wrist must be at correct position at the impact.
  2. The second thing on which you must concentrate is your body weight. Try to hit your drive first and thereafter take a step forward.
  3. Some other things include your grip pressure, swing speed, backswing and downswing, etc.

So, if you understand all the basic golf slice types then it will be easier to you to eliminate this slice shot from your game. But you won’t get a perfect swing overnight; it will definitely take some time.
