Push the edge of the ball mark towards the center using the ball mark repairing tool. Gently twist and fix the mark. Do not insert the tool at an angel and push the bottom. It will tear the roots of the golf greens and kill it.
Use the prongs of the tool to push the grass at the depression towards the center. Use the tool to work around the rim of the crater. Once you are done, you can gently tamp down the repaired ball mark with putter of by foot to smoothen the putting surface.
