Hybrid Golf Irons

Hybrid golf irons are a fairly new breed of golf club equipment that is being used by the golfers. Since the development of the hybrid golf irons the trend of using these irons have increased significantly and even professional golfers these days carry at least one hybrid golf iron in their golf club bag. The term hybrid comes from genetics as it combines the general characteristics of both the types of golf clubs – the fairway woods and the golf irons. The low numbered irons that have long shaft like the 1-Iron to 4- Iron is difficult to use for most golfers as they have low trajectory, a small club face and low loft. Therefore, most players preferred the fairway woods instead of these long irons to hit the ball for longer distance. But then the woods do have a long shaft that often becomes a problem while hitting the ball from rough surfaces and while hitting the ball below a tree. The hybrid golf irons solved these problems by combining both the features of the fairway woods and the irons.

Explain Hybrid Golf Irons

The design of the hybrid irons are more like the fairway woods. The head of the hybrid golf irons are mostly made with steel or titanium and with a shallow and convex face. Like most of the modern woods the hybrid irons have a trampoline effect where the face slightly bends to the outer side and this gives the ball that extra impulse that gives a good carry. While the shaft of the hybrid golf irons are designed like the irons. The angle or the shaft and the length of the hybrid shafts are more like an iron. Most of the golf club manufacturers these days produce hybrids that have an iron like club face with a bulging back. This type of design give the ball added boost that takes the ball far and the flat club face ensure better accuracy.

The hybrid irons being designed with features of both the woods and the iron the behavior of the clubs also resemblance both these types. The golf club head of the hybrids being more like the woods gives the better impulse but the low loft of the club that is the feature of the iron makes the carry of the ball somewhat similar to the iron. With this typical design the ball when hit with a hybrid gets higher than the irons while the low loft and greater impulse create more backspin that carries the to greater distance than the irons. This is because of this unique design of that when a ball is hit with the hybrid sharply, hits the ground and then moves forward for a few yards and thereby ensures better accuracy.

The hybrid golf irons are best effective for playing shots where the long irons are good but the golfers finds it difficult to use the longer irons. These hybrid golf clubs are also useful for playing shots from the rough, below the tress and long grass. The hybrid golf irons are meant to replace the long irons while giving you the power of the woods.
