Types of Golf DriversThe golf club driver is used to tee off the ball and to keep the ball at the right place avoiding the hazards on the course. Before you actually go shopping for your new golf driver, you need to have a comprehensive idea about the types of golf drivers that are offered by different golf club manufacturers. The types of golf drivers vary in the length, material and the size of the golf club head. Let us give you an overview of different types of golf drivers that are widely available in the market.

What are types of Golf Drivers?

There are golf drivers of different length. The standard length for the men’s golf driver is about 44 inch while the ladies golf driver length should be about 43 inch. The length of the graphite golf drivers can be bit longer the steel drivers. Now this is the standard size of the drivers but there are brands that have drivers that are longer or shorter than this size. Now you have to choose the driver as per your height. There is common belief that if the driver is longer than the standard size then it helps to carry the ball top longer distance. But while choosing the golf drivers you should also keep in mind that unusually longer golf clubs are difficult to handle and it can spoil the angle of the ball and you can end up with a bad shot.

Apart from the golf driver length, material of the driver head and the shaft are also important criteria for while selecting golf drivers. Basically there are three different materials that are used for making the golf driver heads – the alloys, steel and forged titanium. The alloy heads are least expensive to have and often used with graphite shafts. This head give you better precision of the shots. Hence, there are some golfers who also use this driver to play shots in the fairways. The steel heads are heavier than any other driver and gives you good impact while hitting the ball. So if you are really good at the swing and can handle a heavier driver, the steel head will definitely give you an edge. The titanium heads are larger but lighter than the steel heads. As you get maximum sweet spot with the larger titanium heads, it is better to play shots at the right direction.

Apart from these factors you have to select the material of the shaft as well. The shafts of the golf club drivers are usually made with titanium and steel. The steel drivers are less flex and the graphite shafts are more flex. While the more flex requires less power to create the better impact the still drivers require more power to sweep the ball to cover the distance. While hitting the ball with a graphite golf driver it is often seen that the head of the driver does not remain square to the golfer and as result the ball is placed at the wrong direction. So you can choose the graphite golf clubs only if you are comfortable with your swing with flexible clubs.
